MG MGF Technical - Gear box query
Having spent the afternoon crawling around under the MGF I was surprised to find an area of what I take to be the ring gear exposed at the gear box in the area above where the drivers side drive shaft enters the gearbox itself. My question is, is it supposed to be like that? I have attached a picture to illustrate what I am seeing and hope that the more technically minded of you on here will be able to tell me more about it. Sorry it only allows me to attach one photo, but hope you can see what I mean.

| I suspect that's the flywheel, the ring gear are for the starter motor to engage with. And it's normal to be able to see it - doesn't mean that something has fallen off ;o) |

| Thank you bandit. It is just a shock to see the flywheel exposed like this. I would have thought that the bell housing would have been fully enclosed. I take it there are no issues with migratrion of dirt up into the bell housing and the clutch assembly. |
