MG MGF Technical - Fuel tank blow back
| On two occasions when I've filled the F tank up to the top (until nozzle shuts off but not over filled), after running for a few miles then stopping the fuel blows back out filler cap. Is this a known fault or specific to ours - and what is cause? Chris. |

| Fuel does expand in the tank, it comes out of the underground storage tanks cold and warms up. Tanks are designed with expansion space that should not normally fill up to deal with this. When we are going to Scotland I usually play around with the first fill up to ensure I get the expansion space full of fuel, you burn enough off to cope with exapansion in this case. So you may be overfilling without meaning to. other possibilty the seal has failed and when its full it can slosh around that high and spill. |
