MG MGF Technical - Front Wheel Arch Liner
| On my '99 F the front LH wheel arch liner is loose at the rear. There does appear to be a screw missing but there does not seem to be anything behind for a screw to go into. Is there something missing or what? Also the inner screw at the bottom is also missing. Without pulling the other side to pieces to find out, could anyone tell me the size of the screws or a part number if they are not just an ordinary screw? Thanks, Brian |

| Brian If it's the same as on my TF (53) I had the rear cover off recently and the screws dont really seem to be of secure design, the hole is larger than the screw itself and there should be a plastic grommit that sits in the hole first, a bit like you would find holding internal trim parts like door panels etc I lost one off mine and found it easier to replace it with a small bolt and washer that fitted the hole, it was easier than trying to find the part needed, Once i painted the head black you couldn't notice it. If its behind the wheel this maybe an easy answer but if it's near the wheel arch you maybe better off with a larger screw, i would suggest either experiment with different sizes if you don't want to strip off the cover but if you want to put the proper part in you will have to take it off. Hope this helps, I have a cd on parts so will have a look for you. Where abouts on the wheel arch is this part apparently missing from. Regards |
