MG MGF Technical - Electric problems

Thanks for the response re the hot start problems my MGF is having. I took it to the garage and the sensor seems to be the most probable reason. However now it seems to have developed a new problem, which may or may not be related.. Travelling at 70 mph the ABS light flicked on and whilst it was on the rev counter went to 0 ( i also could hear clicking), the light then went off and the revs returned... then the light came on and all electrical power went completely. I tried the hazards whilst all the power was off and they worked. Tried to start it and it started fine... This happened again on the same journey. At the time i was on a straight bit off road although the first time it happened it was after i d come off a roundabout and initially wondered whether the movement has earthed something. Please can anyone help? I m rapidly losing faith in my car! Tamsin

Hi I have similar problems not lost the electrics but my power stearing refuses to work at all now (was intermitent before) this also produces a clicking noise (possible relay problem?) my light for the SRS is also now on almost perminantly.

Failing alternator maybe? I had a problem with the ABS light coming on (as it fails safe when there are voltage fluctuations) see my thread "Alternator light (battery charging)". While I was reading up on the problem, I came across loads of symptoms of a failing alternator and Rev Counter dropping to zero was a classic example.
