MG MGF Technical - Driver door rattle.

I've got an annoying driver door rattle, which seems to be coming from the lever that links the door lock key barrel with the lock mechanism itself.

The existing link only has a single bend at the top end which locates in a hole in a lever at the inner end of the lock barrel.

An 'old' mechanism I have has a similar link, but this has a second dog-leg at the top end.

Has anybody had a similar problem and can be specific about the cure, since the job is fiddly and I'd rather like it confirmed before I try swopping the links over.
