MG MGF Technical - Distributor drive
| Is there a way to remove the distributor yoke from the inlet camshaft and fit it to a another camshaft? I have come across an engine without the distributor drive and I would like to know whether it is possible to adapt it to fit a car with distributor ignition without replacing the entire camshaft. |

| Pretty sure it's quite straightforward, as the later cam is no different other than not having the yoke the rotor arm mounts on fitted. This is just glued in, although the recess is considerably larger than the yoke so care is needed to ensure it sets absolutely central and perfectly in line, which is easier off the engine. As for how to loosen it I've no experience but it isn't uncommon for the glue to let go just through age & use so I wouldn't expect much brute force to be required... |
