If you're going up & down kerbs a lot, check the drop links between the anti-roll bar and hub assemblies, they get more brittle with age so can break fairly easily.

I can't help with your clonking noise, but driving up and down kerbs can also break the reinforcing cords in tyre sidewalls, especially at the front. The damage is not visible so the first you know about it is likely to be when you suffer a blow-out. This is not a nice experience at the best of times so best avoided. Chris

Danny - any further forward with the clunking noise? I'd definitely echo Bandit's comments - they are known to fracture and fail - and certainly would be one explanation for the clonking noise you can hear as the suspension moves... Read about Colin's experiences here: http://mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/suspension/ARB_bush_replacement.htm
