MG MGF Technical - Cental locking problem

I just had to open the window and hood to climb out of my MG in the Sainsbury's car park. The central locking activated for no apparent reason and it wouldn't unlock. It appears to unlock but then relocks and I can't open the drivers side door at all. Experimentation at hone reveals that if I'm quick I can open the passenger door before it relocks, but not the driver's door.

I can still drive it, so it's not activating the immobiliser.

Has anyone come across this sort of behaviour before?

Yap, common problem with the door lock and included micro switches.
Get a new lock.

As Deiter says you may need a new lock. I think that I'm on my third one on the driver's door and second on the passenger's door. If you gently hold the door locking pin down as you lock / unlock the door it sometimes works. The problem is that you need the door card off to change the lock and to get the door card off you need the door open (unless you're going to butcher it). I'm sure that it's double locking that causes the problem, so I've stopped doing this on my car.

Thanks for that guys. How much does a new lock cost?
