MG MGF Technical - car shake
Hi all i have asked this type of question in a few other ways with no luck on the things you have sugested so i am still trying to narrow it down what my problem is as the car reahes 80km i get a body wobble and what feels like a lite bouncing till i get to 90 it is in the rear as i dont get any stearing wheel movement as i am sure its not in the front . car hight is ok new shocks rear new tyres all round wheels balanced on and of the car with the bounce can tyres not be round ? i thought that might be the reason on bounceing can that be checked and how but the wobble i just cant work it out any help would be great thanks Andrew Australia

At that speed you could try fitting the spare to each side in turn at the rear to eliminate one or both rear tyres as the cause.

Andrew, You can easily check to see the round of the tyres by jacking the rear of the car up on jack stnds. Run the engine, slowly pop it into 1st gear (with the clutch in) and the slowly release the pedal and the wheels will spin. Check the wheels as they spin (be VERY careful not to get to close and snagged) and observe if they are round. While the car is up on stands (engine turned OFF), check out if there is any wheel wobble, Same as for when you check for worn bearings. Check out the rubber bushes as well. Does the car make a clunk noise when you go over a small bump or crack in the road? Also see if the rear discs are OK. Maybe they need machining? Good Luck. Branko

Is there any change in the wobble if you dip the clutch? A driveshaft that is out of true often is only evident in a small range of speeds, but the effect of the oscillation will decrease if you remove drive, and possibly increase during harder acceleration. It's also possible for a wheel bearing to develop a looseness that is only evident at higher speeds, i.e. as it heats up. That would usually give a wandering feel to the rear which you don't mention so I suspect wouldn't be the case here.
