MG MGF Technical - Can you remove clutch arm without lowering engine
When changing the clutch without lowering the engine and just moving back the gear box.(Branko method). Can you get the actuating arm off with the gearbox in that position, so that it can be cleaned/Replaced. Or must the gearbox come completely off? Brian

Brian, It was a couple of years ago since I had worked on the clutch, but I do remember that I had removed the arm for a lube and cleanup. If I was to do another clutch, I would this time round drop the subframe and work on it in the open. It would be a lot easier on my body. Cheers, Branko

Brian, Good on you! It's good to hear that someone has made use of my info. How long did it take you.? Cheers, Branko

Hi Branko, I did it over a couple of days and took about 8hrs or so. Now having split the engine gearbox.I find that it is coated with oil, so now another problem. The oil does smell like gearbox oil,as it is mixed with fiction plate dust from where it was slipping. there is a small amount of G.box oil dripping from the shaft as the G.box tilted. I have put a thread on about that. So more problems. Brian
