MG MGF Technical - Cambelts VVC Mk1 F
I read the main cambelt is either of two widths, presumably governed by the width of the camshaft gears. Whilst "in there" I will change tensioner and water pump and belts. I'm a tad worried about getting the wrong size belt and tensioner and water pump - are these sized to suit the appropriate belt width? or is there only one belt size for VVC motors? Jeff

Two sorts of belt and tensioner narrow belt with manual tensioner on erly cars and wider belt with auto tensioner on later cars no clear change over point. Also two sorts of water pump with and without vac chamber, either pump will fit but you need a special bolt for the vac chamber type and conversly a normal bolt for the non vac chamber type.

The early 1800 manual tensioner engine in the MGF will take the early narrow(23mm) manual belt (143 teeth) or the VVC wider(26mm) manual belt(143 teeth). Later engines with an automatic tensioner will only take the wider(26mm) auto belt (145 teeth). I would *always* use the 26mm wide VVC belt on early engines even if the original fitment was a 23mm belt. Dave

To answer the question that was asked... there is only one type of belt that is used on the 'front' of the VVC engine. The kit for this is part number LHN100390, which is now listed as NLA on EPC. The replacement part numbers are ZUA000410 & ZUA000420. These belts use the manual tensioner, LHP10015.
