MG MGF Technical - Brake lights on -alone-
I left my F idling, warming the engine before departing- temp is ice cold around here- and suddenly from my library window I could see the brake lights turning on, then off, and then on again. Any idea of the cause of this strange event? -no known ghosts around-

Hi, this is a common problem and the brake light switch needs to be reset, the insructions from the manual are:- 1. Depress and hold brake pedal 2. Reset switch by pulling plunger 3. Release brake pedal to set switch adjustment. I found it needed a strong sharp pull to pull the plunger out.

There is ample information about this at APT Tony dot co . uk

Hi Michael, take this direct link to Tony's http://www.apttony.co.uk/Servicing/BrakeSwitch.html ... and never again pull upwards the brake pedal while driving, or cleaning the car. This causes the problem with the plunger misalignment. :) Cheers Dieter
