MG MGF Technical - Bonnet catch/cable

Can anyone assist. I have just tried opening the bonnet of my wifes F to top up the washer fluid. Using the catch in the boot it seems like the cable has become diconnected somewhere (probably at the bonnet end) and so the bonnet will not open. Is there an alternative way to get the bonnet open? If not what is involved in getting the bonnet open? Any info/suggestions greatly accepted.
