MG MGF Technical - Blown fuse

I've read the archives regarding the fuse for the interior lights etc. (No. 12 on the F, No. 3 on the TF)and have identified that the purple wire has broken where it enters the main wiring loom but can't find that anyone has taken the repair further. I assume that I now have to start stripping the main loom to expose enough wire to rejoin? I also have a loose black wire in the same place but suspect that this hasn't broken but has come adrift from a multi earth point just below the Y junction. My car is a 2004 TF.

Yes, just expose enough wire to make good a solid repair :o)

Job just finished - not the easiest thing to get at. Two of the wires were broken (black and purple), the remainder had the outer casing broken where they were bent. I've rerouted the cable that goes into the boot lid from the outside of the of the boot lid bracket to the inside as it seems to put less strain on the wiring.
