MG MGF Technical - Accelerator pedal stiff, should it be like this??

Hi
I just bought a 1998 MGF 1.8i. The accelerator pedal seems to be stiff, the guy I bought it of said that's an intentional design feature. Is this true?? If not is it a big/costly problem to fix.

Sounds to me as though the guy you bought it from also has an intentional design feature - brain malfunction!

No it should not be stiff BUT it is a long cable run back to the throttle control so the problem could be anywhere along this run.

Having said that I am sure that others will be able to point you at 'look here first' places and it should not be a costly job.

Cheers for that. Any more information anyone else can give would be greatly appreciated.

Just a tip - if you join the forum (its free) you will then be able to search the archives where you will find about 12 years worth of reports.

Cheers Ted

Just looked back through the archives, looks like the throttle cable might have been frozen, maybe needs replacing as water might be in it and it could possibly be corroding.

Thanks for the advice.
