MG MGB Technical - Wishbone bushes being crushed
hi everyone, ive been replacing the wishbones on my gt as the hole which holds the base of the kingpins became oval after i hit a kurb rather hard. I kept the old bushes as they were only on for about a month and still looked new when i took them off. problem is, before and after i finished putting them back together the bushes looked squashed at one end. Will this be ok? ive driven the car a lot and it feels fine but just want to check. You can see one side has more rubber than the other.

The distance between the arms is governed by the width of the spring-pan. What are the gaps on the other A-arm like? And the other side? If the assembly is further forward or back relative to the other side then it will pull to one side or the other on a flat and level (i.e. no camber) surface. That *looks* like the right rear arm, with the front bush squashed more than the other, which would give more castor angle that side in which case it would tend to pull to the right. But if it doesn't pull, then it's fine.

As Paul saya, you should be ok if all the 'gaps' appear the same. Incidentally A. P New, did you have any sleeves inside these bushes? ome seem to, eg Superflex, others not? Mike

yeah they have the stainless inner sleeves. they came off easily and the replacements went on nicely with plenty of bush grease which was supplied with them. It feels ok when driving, but i just wanted to make sure. im using the same spring pans as before but new wihbones.
