MG MGB Technical - Wiper arms/blades

1972 bgt. Need wiper blades for wiper arms that are 3/16" wide. Moss lists three different blades for the GT -- thru 1968, 1969-1972, and 1973 on. Since I'm not sure if my wiper arms are correct, what year would be right for arms that are 3/16" wide?

Thanks,
Tom

There are various lengths and widths here http://www.mgpartsuk.co.uk/prods/pc175.html

3/16" = 5mm

Take your pick, noting the different lengths.

Tom: Windshield wiper blades are a bit of a P.I.T.A. There are so many variables due to planned obsolecense. This is done to force you into buying new arms etc. I removed one of the rubber blades from the wiper and matched the profile to another blade. I purchased a set of 22" blades, removed the rubber, cut it to fit the 3 wipers I already had. There is about 5" left from the blades I bought.

Tom,

Have you tried going to a local auto parts store to match something up?

On my way from KY to CA I stopped somewhere in NM or AZ at an Autozone for wiper blades. It took us a while, but we did find something that worked. These things go through so many changes over the years that I think you may be setting yourself up for disappointment if you try to order them by the make and model of your car.

Thanks for the info gents and thanks Geoff for the link to the list of arms and blades -- should be able to use that as a guide.

CR, I did go to a local parts store and got some blades to fit the 3/16" style arm, but they don't look right -- kind of bulky. Would rather try to find the slimmer, correct blades.

Thanks again,
Tom
