MG MGB Technical - What is the correct oil filter?
| Hello, I have the old oil filter for my engine, but have concerns it isn't the correct one for my vehicle. My car is a 1971 MGB with an 18GG engine. I have cleaned up the oil filter housing and adapter only to find that whe the unit gets screwed together the rubber ring on the outside of the oil filter make contact with the spring assembly (see photo) is this correct? Many thanks Alex

| Alex, There is a circular disk that fits on a shoulder of the centre tube which holds the filter base above that pressure by pass valve spring. See pointer on a copy of your photo -attached. Moss online catalogue will show this in component assembly form. You could probably make one to suite, providing you don't already have it assembled into the canister head. Regards Roger
