MG MGB Technical - Transmission Mount Ears?
| After replacing the motor mounts (a real thrill), I dropped the trans cross member and saw I needed to order some more bushes/mounts for it...they came in, but now I can't figure out which way the "ears" on the upper bracket face (or does it even matter?) Also, what is the recommended order to replace the mount & cross member...attaching mounts to tranny first with 4 bolts, or attch the 2 bolts from the mounts to the cross member, then lift crossmember to put in 4 upper bolts? Photo: L ears face aft, R ears face forward, Center is the bracket showing there is a difference in the "ears".

| Thank you PaulH. After owning MGs for over 40 years, you'd think I knew that anything that looks like a simple afternoon job to do, will take a week and at least 2 "parts orders" before it is finished! I guess that's why we love MG's, they encourage us to bite off more than we can chew...and we feel SO satisfied when we have done the job right. RIGHT! |
