MG MGB Technical - ticking from servo
| i,ve got a ticking noise from my servo at tickover and low revs, any one had this problem, |

| What year? Disconnect the hose from the servo and seal the end of the hose and make sure it *is* coming from the servo and not perhaps from the one-way valve on the inlet manifold, or indeed from something else altogether. If you have the remote servo you should notice very little difference in braking, but if it is the servo integral with the master i.e. 77 and later then take care if driving it as the brakes will probably be quite a bit heavier. If it definitely is from the servo then with the hose connected again do the usual tests, which are run the engine then switch off, then press the brake pedal a few times. The servo should hiss and wheeze a bit, getting quieter with each pedal press, and the pedal should also get higher and harder with each press, for about half a dozen presses. Then with the pedal pressed hard down restart the engine, and the pedal should sink a bit. |
