MG MGB Technical - Speedi Sleeve on a 18V
Putting a new rear seal on the 18V to cure a leak (actually, based on what I saw after pulling the rear plate off, I think more oil was dripping down TO the seal from the rear cam bearing nook. The rear plate gasket did not stick to the engine block very well. Will use a better sealer compund this time.)Anyhoo, drove a Speedi Sleeve onto the crank flange, and it seated 100% (no overhang off the rear of the crank flange). I drove it on until it butted up against something (the block casting?), then could not get the lip off the Speedi Sleeve because it's back inside a recess, so difficult to grab onto. Is that going to be okay? thanks, Tyler

Tyler Glad I'm not the only one to do that -- Left mine in there , not a problem Be carefull getting your seal over the start of the sleeve, the sleeve can be a bit sharp sometimes and damage (cut) the seal Cheers Willy

Hi Tyler, Second Willy's comments. Wrap some tape around the edge of the sleeve to protect the seal when it goes on. Be careful that you just cover the edge or you might have a problem removing the tape. Herb
