MG MGB Technical - rocker assembly oil plug
I have a later 18v engine. I was adjusting my valve rocker clearences when I noticed that an oil gallery plug on the rearmost rocker pedestal was almost completely unscrewed. Was not able to find much info. on it. It has a tapered end, so I am unsure about just screwing it back tightly. On the other hand, I would not want it to work itself loose! Also, does anyone recommend a torque setting for the pedestal bolts (non cylinder head)? Thanks. Brian

There should be a locating screw on one of the pedestals which stops the shaft from turning. It should be fitted with a locking plate so that it doesn't come loose.

The screw you describe should be locked in place by a special plate located under the pedestal nut.
