MG MGB Technical - Oil pump removal

Continuing the saga of stripping down a GH 1800 engine to Blueprint. I cannot for the life of me remove the oil pump! I have, as the manual states removed the 3 nuts, on studs but the pump housing will not shift. The mounting studs are still in, if I remove these, I will have a better angle to give it a rap with a wooden block and mallet but is this a good thing? Incidentally, the crankshaft bolt came off well with the idea of the breaker bar and wood block in between the crank and block webbing. Thanks Mike

Remove the studs if you can , then give it a tap to try to turn the pump. Its only stuck on the carbon build up. Jim

Thanks Jim I will try that. I suspect I am being a bit gentle. Mike
