MG MGB Technical - Kangol Seatbelt help
| I have what appear to be the original Kangol seat belts in my 67 B GT. The passenger side is a bit different than the driver side in that on the drivers side the belt adjusts from the buckle side, but on the passenger side, it adjusts on the door side where the belt attaches. I need a picture of exactly how the two parts of the passenger side go together to put the friction to tighten the belt. |

| Ok, I think I got it. There are two metal slip rings and the small one goes through the larger one. That appears to have got it. If anyone does have a picture they can post, I would still like to see it to assure I have it correct. |

| Bruce If those belts are anywhere near original they are over 40 years old and likely have lost most of their strength. Recommend that you either replace the entire belt assemblies, or have them restored by someone like www.ssnake-oyl.com. I have used them for belts on a Jag and am very happy with the results. | And speaking on belts, I re-newed mine on the GT got a direct replacement for a 1972 GT. Not inertia type just bolt in. All fine but being vertically challenged, I have the seat right forward, and the belt even at its full excess used, I can only just get it round me! I know, loose a few pounds! No honestly I think I have the wrong type, or wrong fixings being used?? there are several anckor points perhaps I am in the wrong positions? Mike |

| Crikey, how do you get behind the wheel? :o) Should only be one anchor point for each end of the lap, but the diagonal could either be middle of the wheel arch, rear of the wheel arch both just above the seat/shelf, or on top of the arch (http://www.mgb-stuff.org.uk/belts.htm). Mine is mounted at the rear of the arch and fastened, with both belts pulled forward at one point inch get to about an inch away from the horn push on the wheel. |
