MG MGB Technical - Headrest problem

Hi
Any suggestions on how to insert headrest shaft into frame?
The problem is not the clip at the end but getting the shaft past the white round plastic runner in the holder connected to the frame. Used alot of force but just cannot get it through. It should roll and it does when moved by fingers but not by the shaft on the way down - there is no obstruction.

Problem solved - the white plastic tube was not pushed in from the side far enough preventing the roll action as the shaft is pushed down.
