MG MGB Technical - Hand Brake Compensator

Hey Guys -

Quick, simple question on the hand brake lever that pivots on the spindle attached to the rear axle.

I do not have my Bentley manual handy and am wanting to refit the lever, the three flat washers, and the wave washer.

What is the correct order - cant seem to get the proper arrangement - they all seem very loose. I do know the one flat washer goes on the very end - before the nut - as it is sized to only fit under the nut.

Hope this makes sense - also does the orientation of the cables (above or below one another really matter - it there a correct orientation there.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

I refitted mine last night and only had one wavey washer and two flats. Wavey washer first, then flat washer with the bigger hole, then the 'lever', then the washer with the smaller hole and finally the nut.
Steve Church

Hi Steve - thanks for the response. I'll try that this morning. I found that the larger washer was stuck to the pivot base with grease and muck - it almost seemed to be welded in place until I sprayed carb cleaner on it - then it broke free. It may be that you have that additional washer as well.

I imagine the left and right side cable arrangement is fine with either being above the other - when refitting the cable attachment within the lever arm.

Thanks again,

Jeff
