MG MGB Technical - Gold Seal Info.
Hi Folks: I usually reside on the MG T-series list but need some help. I am trying to find out all that I can about Gold Seal engines – in particular I would like to obtain a photograph of or, better yet, an original metal Gold Seal engine tag. Also: Does anyone have any information about this rebuilding program? Were the engines built in-house or was there a third party suppler? I have obtained a picture of the original gold colour and engine specifications as supplied by BMC but that is about it. Any help appreciated Godspeed as we motor in Safety Fast Jc

Interesting, BHM1111 according to Clausager is an 18V846/847, which is a high compression UK spec.

The '69 GT this engine sits in is, these days, a parts car. The lower half is mostly rotted away. I haven't stripped it yet, so I'm not completely certain it's a goner but it seems to be. (Even the steel - not alloy - bonnet has rust sores.) The engine runs pretty well, but it is REALLY tired. It's a keeper and will be a good rebuild.
