MG MGB Technical - Fuel overflow with new pump
| Hi, I am posting for a friend who does not use this site. He has just installed a new pump, and after driving just a mile or so, finds that fuel now overflows from both his SU fuel chambers. Is it possible that the supllier (specialist MG) supllied too powerful a pump by mistake, or that some small particles have worked their way through and are blocking both needles? Any advice greatly appreciated - thanks |

| Graham - What kind of a pump did your friend get? If it is a genuine SU pump, either points style or all electronic, it is virtually impossible for it to have excessive output pressure. If the new pump is an aftermarket pump, then all bets are off as they are usually available in several output pressures, ranging from 1psi to 7psi or more. Regardless of which type of pump, I would suggest insuring that the needle valves are clean and there is no debris stuck on the seats to keep the needle from seating properly. Cheers - Dave |
