MG MGB Technical - front sway bar mount stripped

One of the trapped nuts or taped plate threads that the 4 bolts that attach the sway bar mounts to the front chassis is stripped.

Can this thread be helicoiled?

Inside the chassis leg is there a steel plate that can be helcoiled or taped out to the next size?

If it is a steel plate which has been taped to the correct thread, then I imagine it could be be drilled and taped to the next size? If it is just a trapped nut I am not so sure.

Can anyone help who has had this problem. I can't find anything in the archives. Ian

Hello,

It does not need helicoil as to to make a new thread a size larger in Inch or mm will be fine and easier. IF, everything is not too rusted to support it..

Get a long bolt and go right though to the top. Lots do.
or as you say helicoil
