MG MGB Technical - Flushing fuel tank
Sometime soon I will be refitting the fuel tank on my '72 Roadster after some four years stood in a dry corner of the garage. The tank was leak free before and still appears solid so I've no real reason to worry about rusty seams. I was wondering what, if anything, I should do to clean it out? All ideas welcome.

I have a stainless tank, but there must be lots in the archive about this.

Richard, have a look at this. There should be a distributor in the UK. http://www.por15.com/Fuel-System-Restoration/products/12/ Tony

Why not get it lined? I did this in 1987 and no problems with the tank to date Bruce

Be very careful getting it sealed, it can block the strainer on the end of the pickup pipe. If it was OK before just swill it out with water, but I doubt much will have got in anyway unless you were creating a lot of dust.
