MG MGB Technical - Fitting engine procedure
Hello, I am about to embark on fitting my engine and gearbox to my 1971 mgb. Are there any tips or tricks to make the job more straightforward? Many thanks,

The most important trick is to jack the back of the car up, 18" or so. The steering rack must be moved forward to give clearance. Fit your clutch hose before the engine, much easier to get at. Have the shift lever out of the box. All I can think of at the moment. Herb

I never moved the steering rack. One thing worth doing is connecting up the speedo cable when the engine is half in hanging on the crane. The engine/box has to be put in at a 45 degree angle and then levelled off as it goes backwards. A load leveller is a very useful thing to have on your crane.

Alex- It also helps to remove the radiator and its mounting diapfragm.
