MG MGB Technical - finishing new calipers

I have a nice new pair of front brake calipers to install. I'd like to keep them looking the way they are at the moment, so would like advice on how to protect the finish. I could paint them red or yellow or maybe green (car is BRG) but would probably like to retain their existing finish.

They are probably going to get black whatever colour you paint them, or not. After that it is a matter of taking the wheels off and washing the calipers, and using those detail brushes and what-not.

I was concerned that the finish would get worn away or get compromised in some way and the calipers would start to rust. Its easier to treat them before I fit them to the car.

They should have a clear (sort of yellowish really) coating, with summer use i.e. no salt probably periodic cleaning will keep them looking that way. For all-weather use they would probably have to be powder-coated, but that may still leave edges where they bolt up to the axle and to leave space for the pads, and would still need regular cleaning.

I just installed a new set of calipers on my '67B. They were, as Paul mentioned, painted with a yellow coating. I prefer the contrast of black on the calipers, so I painted them with a high temp black matte paint. I also installed a new set of Minator knockoff wheels, that are powder coated, and they look impressive with the black calipers in the background. RAY
