MG MGB Technical - exhaust hot under passenger
| My MGB seems to get very hot in the floor where the passenger seat is, enough to notice when driving a short while (~30 minutes). What is the best way to stop this, I was looking at a Cool-It Silencer Heat Shield to stop it but I am wondering if there is a better way. |

| The passenger floor does get quite warm, but mine doesn't get 'very hot'. Could be the timing is retarded so more energy is being dissipated as heat in the exhaust instead of forward motion, and you will get this with basic unleaded. The silencer is further back than that though, and usually heat shields are sheets that have an air-gap both to the source of the heat and what they are protecting from it, so you would need to mount a plate or something under the floor on spacers. Wrapping the pipes under the floor would be much easier, and at £14 for tape as opposed to £107 for the shield (really?) I know which I would be doing first. |
