MG MGB Technical - Dust Seal Retainer

I am rebuilding my disc brakes. Any suggestions as to how one might set the fragile dust seal retainers in the caliper would be appreciated.

I've done it on MGA calipers because you can take those apart and get access to the seal and retainer. It would be very difficult if both halves are together. Rebuilt calipers aren't too expensive these days.

I did this about 18 months ago and messed one up trying to press it in gently with a piece of softwood. Then I realised that the pressure needed was very slight and so I just started the others with finger pressure and when almost fully seated just used the softwood to make sure they were even and fully home. Clean up one of the old one and practice with it first - I wish I had.

Run a flat file around the diameter first. There's often some roughness from the stamping. Bevel it, and work slowly with your fingers.
