MG MGB Technical - Door mirror falls off

I have fitted new Tex door mirrors to my B GT, the car isn't on the road yet but the driver's door mirror has already fallen off.
The problem is that the pointed grub screw does not go far enough down the slope of the plinth and as a result the plastic plinth tears when very little pressure is applied to the mirror head.
I used to have the problem on a Mini but managed to find some aluminium blocks that replaced the plastic top of the plinth, I haven't seen these for a while now.
Does anyone else have the same problem and a suitable solution?

I think you are touching on the solution right there MG. You will need to make up a little spacer, I did the same with a little bit of aluminium from the local hardware store. It has worked with mine, which would do the same. Mike
