MG MGB Technical - Directional signal not working

70 BGT. This is what I checked so far: two of the fuses do not indicate power even with the ignition on. New fuses still no power. Everything works except the directional signals. Replaced the directional signal flasher - still does not work. Pulled contacts loose from fuse box and cleaned contacts- still does not work. Wiggled wires by fuse box and steering column hoping something like a loose contact - still no signals.

I have resorted to hand signals to turn but it seems like most drivers think I am waving at them. California highways I could get shot!

Help any suggestions?

The feed to the turn signals goes through the hazard switch - assuming that you have hazards on a '70?

Try flipping the hazard switch on and off a couple of times and see if they start working again.

The two fuses in the fuse box with no power are probable the sidelights - red wires.

Have you tryed checked the feed wire to flasher unit if you have 12 v and If its a two termial flasher unit Take wires of unit bridge them together select a direction left or right and the lamps should light. if they dont then you have switch or bulb trouble.

If you dont have 12v at flasher unit a quick fix would be to piggyback a feed wire of the voltage stabalizer to the flasher unit and that should get you away and the circuit is still fused.

If you don't have power out from 2 fuses, more than the turn signals should have failed. The turn signals are on the 3rd fuse down (white wire in/green wires out). Go to www.advancedautowire.com and download the wiring PDF for MGBs. Then find the one appropriate for your car. Don't get shot in the meantime.

I forgot to mention, the first thing I did was to replace the flashing unit. The new one did not work that is when I began checking other possibilities. I tried PT's suggestion of bridging the two wires and got positive results. From this I determined the problem could have been a defective new unit. I purchased a new flasher at a local parts store and "success" I now have directional signals.

I guess just because something is new doesn't mean it works.

PS lucked out no gun shots.

Thanks for the suggestions.
