MG MGB Technical - crank pulley

Can anyone tell me why the diameter of the crank pulley was enlarged on the later engines. Was there also a change in the sizes of the alternater and water pump pullies, or was it done to run things faster?

The diameter was increased to help the water pump and alternator turn at slightly higher speeds to increase their output at lower rpms. RAY
