MG MGB Technical - C40 Dynamo
I am reworking a C40 dynamo. Can anyone tell me if the radius of new field coils is a bit tighter than the housing? I have a new pair of coils but the box they came in may be mismarked as to the part numbers of the coils inside. The inductance checks close enough, the DC resistance is in the ball park and the length of the pole pieces is OK. Unfortunately the width is not easily measureable due to the shape of the pole pieces. As you surely know the pole pieces are a pain to remove. So I would like some help before I go to the trouble of trying to remove them and then find that the coils I have are not correct. Alternatively, does anyone have field coils known to fit a C40 dynamo?? Sincerely, Bob

I would think that the 2 sets of field coils would be identical. The only help, that I can offer, is from a '65 BMC parts book. It lists the field coils as being part #57H 5341. RAY

Thanks for that info. My books only go to 1954. Cheers, Bob
