MG MGB Technical - Brake light switch to union leaking

Looking for brake light switch for 72 B that doesn't leak when tightened onto the union. Brake lights failed; replaced switch and union now electrically OK but cannot get replacement brake light switch / union combination to make proper seal. Despite much tightening it still weeps.

Did you use a thread sealer, like teflon tape?

Also be prepared for the new switch to fail quite soon, unless it was NOS. Current (pun not intended) replacements seem to be incapable of taking the load of the lamps, and need a relay, and even the relay winding needs quenching.
