MG MGB Technical - Anti-roll bar skewed

I have the front bumper removed on my 78B rubbernose whilst doing a respray and I've noticed something that doesn't look right.

The anti-roll bar seems to be skewed to the driver's side.
On the driver's side the link arm is dead straight vertical. On the passenger side it is at an angle with the top of the link closer to the middle of the car and the bottom out towards the wheel.
Everything seems to be in good condition including the bearings. I notice the locator clamp on the driver's side is touching the the bearing but on the passenger side it is about 1 inch away from the bearing.

Is this normal? Are the locators supposed the both touch the bearings and the two link arms at the same angle, or is the anti-roll bar able to slide back and forth a little as part of the normal suspension operation?

ARBs do seem to walk, usually they only show up on here when the start to hit something and clunk. Your car so up to you to put it nack where it looks right, or leave well enough alone.

The factory bars should have flanges by the brackets to stop them walking. The PO fitted an uprated Ron Hopkinson to my V8, and that walked, so much so that on full lock the wheel would rub on the bar. I wrapped a strip of old inner tube round the bar beside each bracket, clamped in place with a worm-clip, and it has been fine since.

The aftermarket 3/4 bar on my MGB GT broke in two inside one of the mounting blocks. The only clue was a loud twanging noise when cornering reasonably hard as the two pieces moved against each other. It was obviously a production flaw in the bar.
