MG MGB Technical - 6 cylinder to 8 cylinder rev counter
Does anybody know or point me in the right direction to convert a Smiths 6 cylinder revcounter to read 8 cylinders. Thanks Roy

Hi ROY It depends on the model of the tacho, but the last one I played with had an adjusting screw inside the tacho. It was a simple matter of pulling the tach out of it;s housing and having a master tach hooked up to the car at the same time to adjust it up to Cfeers Willy

I ran into a similar problem when I fitted a custom distributor to my supercharged engine. The Smiths internals were not compatible with the distributer that I had installed. The easiest solution, for me, was to swap out the Smiths inside components, minus the face and needle, for an Autometer tach. With very few modifications, I wound up with a perfectly functioning tach that looked dead on original. RAY
