MG MGB Technical - 3/4 tailgate rubber seal

Can anyone give me the low down on the best way to fit this 3/4 seal.I removed the old one, slightly perished and fitted one purchased from Watford Classic Cars (supplied by Baines) and found it was virtually impossible to get it to fit. I tried fitting it with the alloy strip and screws but found that it would not line up with the sides,even after trying to glue it in place. Removing the seal I laid it on top of the old one and found it was 3-1/2" shorter across the top of the screen. Having sent it back for replacement or refund, can anyone suggest the best place to purchase one for a first time reliable fit,should Watford only have more of the same. PM

Mine fitted - it came from MGB Hive. The only issue is that 3 years later the rubber is perishing and cracking. Why can't we get decent quality items these days?
