MG MGB Technical - 15' track tyres
hi guys, i know tyres have been on here lots of times but ive spent 3 hours looking through the archives and other sites and found nothing conclusive. My 68 GT currently has 185/65R15 tyres (continental ecocontact) and althought the grip is good im looking for more. i tend to put my car on track and hence im after a seriously grippy tyre. theres nothing online in that size!! Ive looked at 195 as well as other aspect ratios. Any ideas anyone? Adam

Adam- Plenty of good choices in P195/60R15. Your speedometer will be more accurate, too.

Adam, Are you thinking of purely road tyres or track day tyres? A lot will depend on how much clearance you have, I fitted 195/65 x 15 Pirelli 6000 which grip very well but you will need to de-lip the rear arches for clearance. My car is a 75GT but has reverse spring eye rear springs which bring it down to chrome bumper ride height at approx 15" between chrome strip and centre of wheel. There are plenty of track day tyres available but they are pricey and some may not be road legal. Kevin.

im after some good alrounders as i dont drive it a lot but when i do i drive it hard and also do trackdays. Its a 68 GT and i have one of those dodgey rear axles which causes rub on the INSIDE arch rather than the outside on the drivers side. I was originally after 185/65 15" as thats what i have now and this size is a pain in the ass to find good tyres for, ive currently got continental ecocontacts which are good but i want more!
