MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Which way does the oil seal go in
Hi All, I am fitting the silicon front crank oil seal (from D&D) in the timing chain/water pump cover. Which way does the seal go in, open side first (towards the front of the car) or closed side? Regards Tony

Which timing cover are you running? If its the Buick/Olds version, it presses/taps in from the rear. If its a front loading one, you can look at the seal to tell probably. The seal edge should point slight inward toward the guts of the engine. Hope this helps. BTW did you ever get my emal reply about the Macleod clutch?

Hi Jake, It's the Buick one, so I assume you are saying the open "spring" side faces the engine? Yes I did get your email, that's the next job when I get the flywheel fitted. Thanks Tony
