MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Water Pump Ratio

What ratio between the crank pulley and the water pump pulley is advised? I have a water pump pulley that is a good bit larger that the crank pulley and I'm concerned that the pump may turn too slowly.
David

David,
I did read a magazine article recently where it was advised to have the crank pulley larger than the water pump pulley. I forget the ratio, but they wanted the water pump to spin substantially faster. That said, my pulleys that I removed from a Buick 300 in a junk yard years ago are opposite to that; the diameter of the w.p. pulley is slightly larger. Resulting in a little lower w.p. speed compared to the crank; that is what was stock. I had them chromed, so they're going to stay there till that proves to be a cause of any overheating, God forbid! Hope to get it running someday 'soon', so I can test it out. Joe
