MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - vented gas tank

i have a 74 1/2 rb car that i swapped a 2.3 turbo coupe engine into it.does any one know the ohms resistance empty and full for a 74 rb sending unit and a 77-80 sending unit for the gas tank?i might try the later sender so i can use a different pick up location.also did any year mg use a vented gas cap?the fuel injection does not need a non vented tank.
thanks

Mines a 75 ex-American car. efi V8 conversion. I used that later sender and have not got any compatability problems, just plugged it in. I did adjust the gauge a little but not because of the new sender, it was always off and I took the oportunity to get it accurate. I did this by the simple expedient of operating the sender by hand and bending the needle on the gauge. You will need to unclip the float and turn it around to prevent it fouling on the old pick up.
You'll need to vent your tank in some way. The petrol gets hot circulating through the fuel rail. It also gets used up. It would be a race to see whether the tank would burst from warm petrol expansion vapor, before it would be crushed by vacuum from petrol being used up. If you've been running without then you've probably got a leak somewhere.
The earlier cars have vented caps.
