MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - V8 conversion gearbox questions

Hi,

I'm carrying out an V8 conversion on my RB roadster.
The donor engine is from a p6 (76) and comes with a 4 speed gearbox. I also have a LT77 5 speed box which I would prefer to use. My question is will it fit to the engine and will I need to change anything like the flywheel/clutch because of the different splines on the gearboxes?

Many Thanks

Matt

It will if you have the LT77 bellhousing, and the release bearings etc.

I dont know if the mating urfaces of the P6 box and LT77 box are the same - Issuepct not, perhaps the only way will be to try it.

Matt,

the LT 77 will fit the P6B engine. Liam allready explaned some further items necessary.

Cheers

Matt,
To expand on Liam's posting, you will require: Bellhousing, clutch release bearing and carrier, clutch release arm, release arm pivot and clutch slave cylinder. Look at the SD1 section of the Rimmer Bros parts catalogue and all will be clear.
My recollection is that flywheel for the the P6 and SD1 is the same. I guess you'd be fitting a new clutch anyway?
