MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Starter motor

I'm in the process of replacing the starter motor on my Rover V8 engined MG. I do not want to use the original type. I want a small high torque one.I do not want to import one, I want to buy one locally or interstate at the most. Mention Rover/MG to the local dealers & it's like "what planet are you from". There are any amount of such motors to fit Chev., Ford,& Mopar, so I'm wondering if anyone knows if a starter motor from another make of car will fit. Or if any of the Aussie guys can advise me. Hi Barrie, I suggest you give Castle Automotive Enterprises a call on (03) 5472 1442. I bought one of their high torque starters for my factory V8. They are a bit pricey but do the job. Apart from the improved performance, one of the benefits of their starter is that it is a lot smaller than the orginal unit.Cheers Tony
