MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - “So ya thinks ya knows all about MGs, eh?”
| GIRLS and BOYS :- OK you MG hotshots, its time to put your money (a lousy ten bucks, you cheapskate!) where your best organ is - and I expect that to be your mouth. Its time to play “So ya thinks ya knows all about MGs, eh?” After months of planning, for those of us lucky enough to be going to Gatlinburg (the same week-end as the MGCC Silverstone International), participants to MG2006 will have a chance to show their mettle and may even win a 12-bottle case of Canadian wines, some fine Québec maple syrup (the best in the world, for you Vermonters) and another secret Canadian product not available in the US (no, its not a Montréal Québecoise!). The wines are not plonk and in fact, are worth about $200 and well worth taking a half hour after the Car Display on Friday afternoon, to write a sit-down test at the Glenstone Lodge at 4:PM. Don’t expect this to be a cakewalk. There’s a nice mix of questions to suit everybody, but they can be considered from medium to tough, (ya don’t think we’re going to give that case of wine without working for it, eh?). The questions have been carefully selected and authenticated by a well-known MG guru, an author and a priest with a PhD; for form, authenticity, answer and source. This same guru will be adjudicating and invigilating. EVERY registrant for MG2006 can play. Registration for “So ya thinks ya knows all about MGs, eh?”, takes place when you register for MG2006. There is a brochure describing the event. Be sure to pick one up, and above all, be sure to participate. The $10 and more hopefully, goes to the Knudson-Churchill Scholarship Trust, a scholarship available to candidates in the fields of Automotive Journalism and Automotive Technology. If you know of someone interested in applying for a scholarship, the address is on the back of the brochure. There is no mention of this yet on the MG2006 web-site because up ‘till now, this has been a one-man adventure. Getting wineries to contribute some good wines was a herculean task, so we had to wait ‘till this late date to announce it. But its definitely ON! Hey, gals and guys. This should be fun. You know what’s said about MG enthusiasts “ .. its not the car, it’s the people”. Let’s see how true this is. Gord Clark Rockburn, Qué. |
