MG MGB GT V8 Factory Originals Technical - Rover starter shims?
| Anyone know where I can get starter shims for the Rover starter? Since I changed to the 4.0 I've got a bit of a zing when I start it up. I could use alignment shims but I would like a complete one piece shim. Kelly |

| I saw one once on a rover SD1 starter motor. Might be worth trying a rover wrecker. |

| why not cut your own shim out? You should at least try. I suggest using roofing flashing, which is .009 thick aluminum. Just buy a roll at a place like Lowes or Home Depot. An entire roll is like $9.00. You can cut it using a pair of sissors or an xacto knife. If you need more thickness, cut another shim. I wouldn't try more than 2 of the shims made from aluminum. If you need thicker than .018 (2 shims) then you will have a pattern to make thicker steel ones. I know the Lowes Store here in Broken Arrow Okla. carries sheetmetal in thicknesses from .030 up to around a 1/4 plate. On the steel parts, use a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel to make the shim.
